The line of Clover pom-pom making tools is great. I was never good at making them the old school way by wrapping around cardboard...they wouldn't be tight enough, I couldn't trim it round...these tools make it SO EASY to make perfectly round compact pom-poms that require minimal trimming to get the perfect result.
I would say if you enjoy making pom-poms, this is a great item to invest in. It is fun, simple and well made. I have also tried the Susan Bates pom-pom makers, and those a quite lacking by comparison. If you are deciding between the two, I would recommend buying the Clover ones even though they cost a bit more.

I was a little apprehensive at buying a pom pom maker, since I had always used a cardboard circle in the past to make pom poms. But I needed a really tiny pom pom for a project. And after one trial and error, I quickly got the hang of it. It is a really handy gadget and I am thinking of buying a larger one so I don't have to make a cardboard circle again. The pom poms come out evenly and have a professional look to them. I would recommend this project.
