These are the batons I learned to twirl when I was 10 and when my daughter wanted to learn to twirl, I got her the same kind and picked up a couple for myself as well. They are very well weighted, and the 3/8 inch shaft is what I prefer.
My teacher taught me armpit to fingertip length for measuring which size works best for you. Any longer and it will hit your inner elbow/arm on straight vertical and horizontal spins.
I actually wound up teaching my son some twirls as well that he wanted to use for larping with a fake sword!

I got this baton for my daughter she's 8 years old. I got her a size 21" perfect fit. The baton is very good quality and have no complaints about the baton, it is nice and balanced and looks like it will take a beating. It would be nice if there were instructions on how to twirl it. I know most girls get them because they're going to have lessons, but not my daughter so I wish I could show her how. I know there is one dvd that gives instructions ( Susan Orr or something) but its big bucks for it. Love the baton though.

The baton came in great condition, however, shipping arrived a few days late. Nevertheless, overall experience was satisfactory.
